"Hatha" means "sun and moon" in Sanskrit, which is a poetic language from ancient India. It alludes to the union of opposites, which moves us away from wanting one side while rejecting the other, helping us see the whole picture. Hatha Yoga can be physically intense and challenging, or grounded and relaxing.
